MC Gusto

Inspired at an early age by the late 90s jungle sound, Gusto started mc’ing along to mixtapes in the classroom and soon after picked up the mic at free parties and started performing on London pirate radio stations like Flashback, 2GFM, and the legendary Kool FM. The reaction of the phone line during his early radio shows drove Gusto to gain greater exposure and he started mc’ing at events in South London whilst still at school. Gusto appeared in many basement clubs, pubs and backrooms, but as the rep grew, he began performing across London at infamous venues like Herbal, GMT, The Paradise Bar and the legendary Brixton Mass.

Gusto continued building his reputation as an MC and host across the country after joining one of the original live DnB bands, Scassa Monakee, in 2005. Working on EPs with the band and touring the country for 3 years introduced him to the recording studio and crowds all over the UK. Alongside his work with the band, Gusto continued pushing his own sound and held down residencies in London, Leeds and Dublin. Since 2007 Gusto has also worked closely with renowned producer DLR, collaborating on tracks on each of his three studio albums to date, as well as performing together across dozens of events globally.

Gusto made his debut on Dispatch Recordings in 2011, which started his longstanding association with the label. Gusto has since featured on numerous releases from the deeper side of DnB, collaborating with artists including Icicle, Amoss and Safire. Recent features include the title track to DLR’s most recent album ‘Dreamland’; ‘Few things on my mind’ alongside the Belgian duo M-Zine and Scepticz; and ‘Half-Life’ with up and coming producer Sustance, released on Trendkill records last year. There are several releases featuring Gusto planned for 2018, as well as a busy schedule performing on radio and events worldwide.
