Dead Stare is an international Global Bass producer duo, with Gergő living in Hungary and Edgar (DJ Broken Record) living in US. They kicked off their project with an experimental EP that was premiered and released by Mexico’s Cassette Blog, gathering support from big names in the genre, such as Generation Bass (“…the most forward looking, exciting experiment in bass music that I’ve seen in a long time, if not all time.”)
After their second self-released EP, “From A Nightmare,” the duo focused on releasing Soundcloud singles, including official remixes for Billion Dollars and DJ SuperStereo.
Towards the end of 2015 they contributed to Hataah’s Cumbia/Twerk single called ‘Break It Up’ which was released on a compilation called Elektropische Fiber via the German-based music distribution platform called Kumbale.
They also released a Moombahton song to the mega-popular Mexican Bass label WorldwideMX.
Dead Stare kicked off 2016 with “’Másnapos,” a huge Baile/Trap Soundcloud single. But their biggest achievement was yet to come. Dead Stare was given the honor of creating the newest installment of the legendary Peligrosa Subguey series: Boombahchero Vol. 5. With the release of the compilation and the resulting support for the duo, Gergő was immediately booked in Hungary, Czech Republic and Sweden. The duo was also recruited to introduce not only Boombahchero but the growing Mexican electronic underground music scene to Hungary via the Recorder Magazine. Boombahchero was unstoppable: Dead Stare contributed two more Boombahchero remixes; one for Gingee and one for Monsters On The Horizon. Their last release in 2016 was perhaps their biggest to date: “Brinquen,” a collaboration with the young Moombahton pioneer Wost, released via Durp Supera and it made it to Hypem’s Top 100 chart.
So far in 2017, Dead Stare has done a mix for Offbeat BCN’s ‘More Bass Less Borders’ series: a hour of Boombahchero madness.
The first original Dead Stare single in the year was came via Durp Supera called ‘We Extra’: a collaboration with the Brazilian singer Mikka. The remixes from Tribilin Sound, First Gift and Achedoso arrived on August 27, as like celebrating Gergő’s birthday.
Few months later they released an EP called “Dos mil Diez” via Hawaii Bonsai Records with 3 songs: Karma with Mikka, Jugando, and Side To Side with Medina, which was played by Astronomar at Zeds Dead’s “Deadbeats” radio, supported by SpydaTEK, and reviewed by the legend Laidback Luke as a “banger”.
Towards the end of the year, their second remix for the New York based band Monsters On The Horizon was premiered via Moombahton Central Records.
The last original song of the year, they first collaboration with Chong-X was released on Peligrosa’s 10 years anniversary compilation and it got played by another legend: Geck-O dropped it the 27th episode of his “Funky Cat” radioshow.
They started 2018 with a big achievement: A vinyl release! Hawaii Bonsai Records just released a vinyl Cumbia compilation called “Cumbia Amazonica” and the first song in the LP is a Dead Stare song called “La Cumbia Broken Record”.
Few months after that they released a totally different tune that they did before: a Tech House collab with their good friend First Gift, using his vocal.
At the moment Dead Stare is working on several projects.
For now, Gergő is available in Europe while Edgar (DJ Broken Record) is available in the US.
